who is serea?
Serea is created by Øyvind Løkka and Erik Hagen together with camp manager and masai Serea Ntuala. Together we offer a unique wilderness camp with amazing excursions right in the heart of the Masai Mara. In addition, we have created a foundation that helps engage the local community and safeguard the Masai culture, while providing visitors with authentic and meaningful natural experiences.
How did serea camp come about?
Serea Camp came into being through a combination of adventure, passion for nature, and a deep respect for local traditions. Øyvind Løkka and Erik Hagen, two friends with a common dream, were inspired on a trip to the Masai Mara in 2019. They wanted to create a place that not only offers unique wilderness camp experiences, but also builds bridges between guests and the local culture.
Together with Serea Ntuala, they have turned their dream into reality — by establishing Serea Camp as a window to the rich wildlife and majestic landscapes the Masai Mara has to offer, all while maintaining a deep commitment to sustainability and community support
from lens to landscape
Nature photographers Øyvind Løkka and Erik Hagen have used their passion for exploring the world to capture spectacular natural experiences through their lens. However, their trip to Africa in 2019 should open a new horizon beyond photography — the dream of their own camp, inspired by the rich and wild animal experiences the Masai Mara has to offer.
Through collaboration with Serea Ntuala, a native Masai and the camp's future manager, they created a sanctuary that mirrors their adventurous spirit and deep love of the wild African scenery.
